John Lewis is recalling a range of baby sleeping bags over fears they could be dangerous to infants. Four product lines have been pulled from the shelves after they were found to be a potential choking hazard.

The retailer has issued an urgent warning to parents who have bought any of the affected items, urging them to 'stop using the product immediately' and return them to store.

The products are designed for children up to the age of 12 months old, however it was discovered that the poppers can become unsecure and detach, making them a possible choking hazard for babies.

The Government Office for Product Safety and Standards has also issued a warning, saying that the products 'do not meet the requirements' of general product safety regulations.

The affected products are all Disney Winnie the Pooh sleeping bags, specifically a wne white ‘Exploring’ sleeping bag with Winnie the Pooh characters all over and a two-pack of white ‘Friends Forever’ sleeping bags from the same range.

Another sleeping bag with a single green Winnie the Pooh is being recalled, along with one sleeping bag with green Winnie the Pooh characters all over.

The retailer has told anyone who has bought any of these products to stop using them immediately, package and return to their local branch of John Lewis for a full exchange or refund. Shoppers can also return it to their local branch of Waitrose, along with the original order number enclosed in the package for a refund.

A spokesperson for John Lewis & Partners said: "We’re very sorry that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused."
